*Overview:
The Kisses On the Go newsletter was the first print media ever created by the JCI Boholana Kisses. As a newbie for this form of publication, it is printed on a letter- sized, colored board paper with six pages during its release of the Special Issue last October 2011. Two months after, the First regular issue was released due to the growing demand of the members and their alacrity to contribute and publicized their efforts. Since then the 2nd, 3rd and 4th issues were released last February, April and July GMMs respectively. The Special issue was made by the JCI President and three members, but the 2nd issue made an astounding result as members volunteered to write, as well as contributions from members with orientations in photography and graphic design. It is noteworthy likewise that sponsors showed interest for the publication where exchange-deals were being presented. Hence, the succeeding issues were successfully released with zero cost and a lot to gain.

*Results:
Kisses on the Go, as the first newsletter published by JCI Boholana Kisses was able to produce an exceptional publication with the help of contributing members. The members of the committee were able to amplify and honed their talents and abilities in writing, editing and promoting the chapter into the community. Also, recruiting members were made easy to prospect members from the publication which says it all about JCI,as it depicts the values, mission and vision of the organization. It has been a triggering factor likewise for inactive members as they joined and participated in several activities after reading some issues.

*Actions Taken:
From the success of the Special Issue, the President appointed one editor-in-chief, and the rest of the staff were recommended by members while the 2 lay out artist and 4 writers willingly volunteered. Some members were also made to distribute sponsorship letters to minimize, if not to zero in the cost of publication. With this, We are greatly indebted to the members and staff of this publication for their contributions not only for technical aspects but also for their precious time spent to materialized this project.

*Recommendations:
a.) Must acquire more sponsors to increase profit to cater not only for the members but also for the general public in tackling current events, trends, and entrepreneurial-related topics.

b.) Encourage more members to write and submit on their preferred topic to have an extensive scope for the newsletter.

c.) A Trivia, puzzle, poll survey, or comments re: general events/issues should be indicated to have an interactive publication.

****General Planning and Execution****

The Boholana Kisses on the Go

It was one of the morning routines of our president, Arizza Nancy Tirol--a cup of coffee ,a newspaper and sitting on a couch waiting for the first rays of the sun to appear. While reading the headlines, and seeing the recent occurrences in a familiar place, it occurred to her the moments and experiences she have had with JCI. Then she told herself if only she could share these events and experiences to the members or even the community so they may be inspired and encouraged to do their best in changing the world for a better place to live in. So she took her laptop and wrote a few lines, then that few lines became paragraphs, supplemented with graphics and pictures, and also from the favor she asked from the members to contribute a story or documentary of an event, the Special Issue was born. It was called such because it never occurred to the writers and president that the publication received an overwhelming feedbacks, where back then distribution was only intended for members. Determined to do the challenge, during one of the GMMs, she appointed one editor in chief, Ehra May A. Fernandez, a few writers,lay-out artist and aspiring photographers from the members to document each event for the first of the regular issues to be published. On the first meeting of the staff, brainstorming and cost-cutting measures were done. It was discussed that by minimizing cost, sponsors should be acquired. It was then that marketing specialist positions were opened for other members to look for sponsors and maximize their capabilities in business or entrepreneurial dealings. Also, most importantly, the content should embody or project JCI's creed, tenants and should emphasize on the 4 areas of opportunities. Business, Community, internationalism, individuality.

*Finance:
The total cost of printing is none since the printing is shouldered by one of the sponsors (Island Prints) where they require only a softcopy readied for printing. The labor for lay-outing was done by members in one of the sponsors' office (ADCE) and the Bohol Chronicle (sponsor) has agreed to insert the publication into their newspapers during its release quarterly. Some of the sponsors on the other hand donated cash in exchange of recognition of their names or businesses to be included in the publication. With the advent of technology, paperless production of interim reports and drafts were made possible through softcopies (emailing the said copies by writers to the EIC for review), hence, environmental and cost-cutting objectives were achieved.

Donations:
Major Sponsors. (P10,000 or exchange deals worth of the amount)

1.) ADCE- utilizing PCs for lay-outing plus P5,000 in exchange of Logo placement plus tagline/ ad (up to 5-liners) and referrals.

2.) Island Prints - Free printing in exchange of logo-placement plus tagline/ad of up to 5-liners.

Minor Sponsors: ( P5,000 or exchange deals worth of the amount)

EJ couture- P1,500 product/business/name-mention

Ramirez Cakes- P1,500 - product/business/name-mention

Vienna laundrymat- P1,500- product/business/name-mention

*Quality of News content:
The making of the newsletter involves 4 contributing editors and 4 writers and it was
checked and approved by the editorial board. There are 2 layout artists and 2 print editors to add more emphasis and 2 member photographers were sent out to cover each event for documentation. The news content include:

a.) projects being implemented and its objectives
b.) the significance of the project in relation to JCI tenants

*Appearance and layout
Our very own JCI president Arizza Nancy Jule Tirol took responsibility for the overall
visual look of the publication. After lay-out artists properly plotted the pictures, designs etc, she made sure that the texts and images are pleasing for the eyes of the readers, just like a house fitted to suit the owner's preference. Proper spaces between words and sentences were given, important words were highlighted or italicized so retention for readers can easily be attained for the activities and should there be announcements of future projects. The colors were also patterned from the JCI logo, plus a few touches of colorful designs as well as pictures were enhanced through Adobe Photoshop to signify fun and excitement for every story being printed. The publication itself was printed through a laser-jet printer courtesy of our sponsor, so pictures may given more emphasis to have a convincing evidence to support the story. Final draft of the publication was made through Adobe Publisher Application, and this is sent to editorial staff for review. Once finalized and approved by the EIC, a soft copy of the issue is then sent to the printing press.

*Circulation and Distribution
A target of total 500 copies will be printed by the end of August. 90% is printed and distributed already 100 hard copies per issue is quarterly distributed to various sectors of the organizations, this will be made possible by one of our sponsors (Bohol Chronicle) in helping to reach out more readers by including the quarterly issue in their Sunday Special issues. Each issue contains 6 pages. 40 copies will be given to local organizations, 20 copies will be sent to JCI National Board, 20 will be distributed to other local establishments, and the remaining 20 will be given to public and private sectors. An online copy was also sent via e-mail to JCI Elite Malaysia and other active and inactive members. From special issue that was published October of 2011 up to July 2012.

Husband's birthday- DIY gift ideas

So husband went home to his hometown during the weekends, that gave me an ample time to prepare for his birthday surprise. Since I already bought him his birthday present weeks before his actual birthday (Tripod, shoes and iPad casing) so I decided to make him a basket full of things that he liked. First, I customized a cd with his fave songs on it, then I customized his favorite wine with his face on it that says "aged to perfection", I made coupons that says free massage, movies and coffee on it too, I made him a best husband certificate, I made a collage of pictures with a love note and framed it, and lastly I added his fave chocolates. (m&ms, snickers, and Cadbury). Aside from the basket, I also bought a cake with 31 candles. And my last surprise is the office that i decorated with balloons the night before.. So he arrived 9-ish in the morning, I pretended to be asleep and let my father picked him up from the port. The doorbell rang, we knew it was him, we snucked in from behind the office door and shouted happy birthday holding the birthday cake.. He was so surprised and when he went inside the room to change he saw the basket of goodies in the bed with balloons beside it, he was even more surprised. But it did not end there, I also prepared a birthday dinner to officially celebrate his birthday. I cooked all his favorite food (humba, fried chicken with gravy, pork la roca, chicken lumpia, stir fried veggies in butter, and fresh fruits salad) The birthday surprise was a success and the husband was uber happy! I'm glad to step up to the plate once in awhile for my love ones.. Hope this inspires you on your next birthday surprise 😉
